Both those stories were on my google news homepage when I signed on at midnight. They made me jolly and melon collie, respectively. Is that how you spell melon collie?
no, i just have a very loose idea of spelling. i knew 'melon collie' was incorrect, but no matter how i typed it, my spell check couldn't figure out what the hell I was trying to say

...You mean "melancholy", right? Because unless you're talking about a new flavor of dog, I believe the word you're looking for is "melancholy."
(Aside: I wonder if a melon collie is nicer than a border collie? Or more likely to be found in a fruit cocktail...?)
it's melancholy. although the smashing pumpkins album was called 'mellon collie and the infinite sadness', if that's what you're thinking of.
